** I must respectfully disagree. The: "plate current flows over exactly only 50% of the cycle of the input" is the "book learning" explanation (I went to a better school than that) and true (actually
RF linear amp....using tubes ?? I saw one when I was a kid, and it was not linear. 2 x tubes in P-P is a complex mess for RF HF freqs..esp multi band. They draw lots idle current. Same 2 x tubes in
"Push pull" or "single ended" does not define the class of operation. Because a pair of tubes in an RF amplifier are operated in push pull, it has nothing to do with what class they are operating in.
No Jim, A PP RF amplifier does not need LP filters if using pi-net output circuitry. And a GG amplifier running class B does not generate key clicks, my main amp is running zero bias class B for more
"Just shoot amongst us. . . One of us needs some relief ! " Draw me a skezmat of a push-pull Pi-Net. I may want to try one on 160. Don W4DNR or as Sidney Freedman sometimes quipped : Ladies and gentl
Try the Marconi design. Page 96, figure 7.1 of ?Radio Transmitters? by V.O.Stokes 73 Peter The inserted picture was probably too large "Just shoot amongst us. . . One of us needs some relief ! " Draw

We had one of those 1 kw Raytheon transmitters at WKOP in the early 60s and the 833A modulators were class B. But the push-pull RF final pair of 833As was class C. Victor 4X6GP (ex K2VCO) ___________

Jim, OK, I read it in the context with tube GG amps. I don´t use zero bias triodes in my glass tube amps but highµ connected tetrodes. The pair of RS1002A in my L4B draw only 30mA, no key clicks and
be used...with NO bias. But I forget the idle current, with 4-400s..and no bias on a L4B. using 10 x 1N5408s In series. Same L4B. IMD is good on 1900 vdc cw position.... 625 watts pep out. Ditto wit
The RF PA is class C p.p.; When cathode emission dropped the RF final PA tubes were moved to modulator use, not the other way around. Vintage p.p. RF PA rigs are out there and still in use. The Globe
As a First Radiotelephone holder since 1956 and currently keeping a vintage Bauer 707 running on the BCB I certainly agree. That TX uses PP 4-400A's for RF and Audio and tetrodes/pentodes are NEVER u
