I'm selling a HV Transformer  and have questions on the best way to pack. The transformer weighs 85LBs and is approximately a 12 inch cube . At this time I have it bolted to a 5/8 inch plywood pallet

Why does it matter what it's in? Plywood would work fine. Put some rope handles on it though and make sure the plywood box wont come apart. 73 Jim W7RY I'm selling a HV Transformer and have questions

I once received a 50 lb. transformer from Peter Dahl wrapped in many layers of small-size bubble wrap. The whole thing was placed in a large cardboard box about 3 times the size of the transformer. T

Thanks everyone on the reflector and direct , I have all the good info needed to ship . Jim , I'm not sure why but Fedex web page says if chip or ply board is used , it must be put in a cardboard box

The procedure that David Craig, N3DB, is the extreme but probably best way. For 85 lbs, a plywood box with framing, or even strapping onto a pallet and shipping motor freight are reasonable ways. I h
