What do people think of the amplifier by Bill W4NFR shown in the latest QEX? It uses an LDG tuner on the amplifier input instead of a set of filter/matching networks for each band. It seems like an i
K8RA built one with the 3CX1500D7 that uses the LDG tuner for the input. 2006 handbook. - -- R. Kevin Stover ACØH --BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE-- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mo
How does it react to SSB input? Is the VSWR holding steady or does it follow the voice levels? Carl KM1H _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contesting.com http://l
Look back in the archives. This has been discussed at length. The LDG tuner is an L network and does not supply any capacitance at the cathode which is needed to reduce IM. 73 Gary K4FMX ____________
You can make it work as long as you shunt the input of the amplifier with a capacitor with a reactance of 1/4 or less of the input impedance. This will provide the charge storage needed to smooth out
ORIGINAL MESSAGE: REPLY: Excellent suggestion, Bill. I purchased an LDG autotuner years ago just for that purpose but never used it after thinking about the Q it provided. Yes, it matched impedances
G'day Bill, I just did a few calcs. We are gonna use the LDG 100AMP tuner in a gs35B amp. Let's assume it's 100 ohms. We need a cap whose Xc on 3.5MHz = 25 ohms. Xc = 1/2.pi.f.C, So C = 1820pF. Forgi
I forgot to add. This amp is a 160 - 10m job so we're really gonna have some big Farads sittin' there, aren't we? 73, Alek. http://www.qrz.com/db/vk6apk http://www.qrz.com/db/vk6ap __________________
Bill Orr recommends around 13 pf per meter for the input capacitor. At 160 meters that would be 2080 pf. 73 Gary K4FMX _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contestin
The z presented to the rig's input by the amp in the GG varies with tuning. So if you are tuning up the amp's tank, how does that also not show up as an unmatched condition triggering the LDG to auto
