Hi all.... I am in need of a 12v/50amp Zener diode...I think in a TO-3 case. Anyone have one in their junk box or know where I can get one quickly? 73, Howard, N2MM __________________________________

Do you mean 50 W, rather than 50 A? If not, I don't think it would be possible to get one in a TO-3 case, as the heat to be removed would be too much. -- "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn

have one in their junk box or know where I can get one quickly? I get my 50 watters from K2AW's Silicon Alley. Pick up any QST or CQ to see his ads. (((73))) Phil, K5PC _____________________________

** A string of fwd-biased cheapo 3a rectifiers will survive a 200a surge - such as a HV flashover. A 50w zener will not. Also, zeners do not provide adjustable V and diode strings semi-do. On Monday,

It may be easier to find a 11.5 volt normal size zener and use a power transistor to get the current... I think the Handbook has the circuit, to make a high current Zener from a 1 watter... Pat AA6EG

By choosing the right voltage zeners, an almost zero temperature coefficient can be obtained, which cannot be done with diodes. 73 Peter G3RZP _______________________________________________ Amps mai

** In amateur service, it should be virtually impossible to short a 50w 12v zener. Ny guess is that some anomaly caused the zener to short and if this problem is not addressed, the replacement will e

I need a 5W 56V zener for my Tetrode board. It is a 1N5370B. Anyone have one that they are not using? Also, I believe that zeners can be placed in series to achieve higher voltage. Are there caveats

Regarding the 2nd point - yes, you can easily put zeners in series. But the wattages do not need to be the same necessarily - since they are in series, the same current will flow in each one and the
