My understanding is that corona discharge would be most off a single isolated point, like the tip of a vertical ant or the ends of a yagi elements. I doubt the corners of a quad would act like that a

Hi Charles, Yes, we have suffered problems in a quad, but I guess that it can not be called "Corona", just power issue. I have designed a 4 elements quad for 27 MHz for a friend of mine who does "Key

Fibreglass is a very poor isolator, especially when wet. It turned into flames at the 1KW level already when I used it at a high impedance point. 1 5/8" cable is rated for 32KW@30MHz permanent power

"I doubt the corners of a quad would act like that as much if at all. Likely someone has some hard test data on this." As I recall, the quad was developed as a solution to corona discharge. HCJB is a

Hi All, since the quad is made with full wavelength loops. the feed point can be selected to make the high voltage points midway between corners. That results in no sharp points at the highest voltag

Yes, Gerald is right. If you set your quad as diamond, you will get HV in both side corners. So, diamond configuration is not good for high power. Box or square configuration has the HV points in the

Hi Peter, I am not sure where you got that information but I think it is wrong. Here you can see the Andrew Heliax 1 5/8 LDF7-50A datasheet. there you can read: 30 MHz Average Power 30.86 Kw (Page 3)

Years ago I built a 4 el quad using bamboo spreaders. Put it up in diamond configuration. Worked great but one day noticed my swr had gone bad, cranked it down for a look and saw the driven element h
