"I notice the SPE 1.3K-FA amplifier is using a single LDMOS transistor to achieve a peak of about 1500 watts output. I am wondering how they do this and stay linear over the full 360 degree RF cycle.

Probably something similar to the NXP BLF188XR LDMOS that W6PQL uses in his amps. Two devices in the package with a common source. Rated for 1270 CW watts out @ 2-30 MHz. He has an example of a two p

Not quite; there are two devices in the same case with a common source connection... but that is all. To operate them in push-pull, the input and output transformers must be added externally. 73 fro

Probably something similar to the NXP BLF188XR According to what's stated on some websites, they used an MRFE6VP61K25H. From the IMD data given in previous posts, I suspect that the amplifier is desi

The SPE 1.3K-FA comes with a 2 Year Warranty. Warranty work (for the most part) is done here in the States. With that kind of Warranty SPE must be very confident in the Amps survival. Mine should be

Why in the world would you replace a bullet proof Quadra with a SPE 1.3K-FA? Power output is essentially the same for all bands. Doug I wasn't born in Saskatchewan, but I got here as soon as I could.

Quadras aren't bullet-proof; the RF deck seems to be rather solid but the control circuitry is another topic entirely. I don't have the schematic at hand, but the Quadra has an unregulated DC "sub-su
