Greetings all... I've just come across two Transco Transfer Switches...type 1460-430-95. These things are 115vac, 4 port devices. Does anyone have any idea of the pinouts on the cannon plug on the en

I'm not familiar with that specific switch but I would suspect that some of the "extra" pins are for position tell-back. These things are cannon plug on the end and F.

Make sure that what ever you end up with you have an interlock to disable the main circuit breaker before you can turn on the generator breaker. My generator has an automatic switch for the generator

No need to have an interlock with my plan. Both the portable generator and the main panel can be hot at the same time. I plan to switch two circuits out of the main to the generator with a DPDT switc

Be sure to check the code in your area. You may need to have the transfer switch in a sub panel with the breakers for those circuits all in there. I had to do that here. OTOH I still have about 5 cir

Further complicating the choice of a transfer switch for generator/grid switching is the fact that generators come with either a floating neutral or neutral bonded to frame. The transfer switch you c

More often than not, the neutral overlaps momentarily.   Jim Smith, EE KQ6UV   ANY transfer switch that is UL approved for that use in the USA will  "break before make".  This is no concern  here. __

Momentarily? Here they have to be solidly connected. But even if they aren't, at 4 points they are ground. AT the power pole, at the generator, and directly connected in the panel and sub panel. IOW

The neutral and ground (white and green) are connected together only at the main entrance panel. The neutral and ground busses are separated in all of the sub-panels. (((73))) Phil, K5PC ___________
