Well, I had an interesting experience last night. I had a taste of what the non-contesters have been complaining about. I was trying to answer a CQ from ER1DA on 80 CW, around about 0600 Z, when I su

Ron, If you weren't bothered enough to copy down their calls, why would you bother to tell the story? Someone could make up a story like yours without ever turning on their radio to just make another

I also want to remind Ron that a highly efficient contest op probably spent enough time on that frequency to hear ...WN3VAW K or [the end of something] followed by [silence] And then did what any co

Well, I had an interesting experience last night. I had a taste of what the non-contesters have been complaining about. If contesters respected the DX-windows on low bands there would be less problem

Who said anything about a DX Window? Let's stick to the point. Oh, and to those who've asked... yes, I know the NAQP ended at 0600. I checked my log, the incident in question happened between 0550 -

If someone only did this once, and then figured out the other station wasn't in the contest and had a sked or was calling someone else, they should leave him alone. I wouldn't call and call repeatedl

Perhaps a kind of "last-minute, as-the-contest-ends, make-one-more-QSO" rush overwhelmed their sensibilities. Unfortunately, folks form opinions about contesters/Contesting in general based on one (o

Mark, Well, I guess I'm slammed if I do & slammed if I don't. If I'd gone on in lengthy detail, I would have been told by some on this reflector to quit wasting bandwith; if I'd named calls (as N5NJ

I think some of the hardcore must have heard that unmistakeable WN3VAW callsign and thought, "Hey, that's a familiar contest call and I haven't worked him yet!" and started calling. I dunno, but that

Ron, I feel for you. Often I am torn between being a DXer and being a contester. If I was the grumpy old man that some people think I am (hey, I'm not even 40 yet), I'd sit on 14056.5 or 14336 all we

I bet Matt happened to be on the frequency they decided to QSY to from another band without listening first (not that I would have any experience with this [hi]). I know I had to squeeze in a couple

No, I don't think so. I think it is the responsibility of the station who asks you to QSY to find an unused frequency. Face it, you'd have no trouble finding a clear frequency around 28.290, 21.190,

I thought the GACP (Generally Accepted Contesting Practice) was to pick a freq, and if it was occupied, move up the dial until you find a clear spot. At least that seemed to work for quite a few QSYs
