Wow, that is a shame. Rich and his stationmates always seemed to have the knack of picking up the weak ones (me) in a pileup and I looked for them every time there was a KL7 or Zone 1 station needed.

Rich and the gang always brought a smile to my face when I heard KL7RA calling CQ in contests. If I didn't hear them, the band was closed - they were my "beacon" for AK. RIP, Rich, you'll be missed..

Hi Mike:   No Rich was 70 or so ...he had heart issues some years back ...but seemed to be in good health ..still climbing towers, still expanding the station.  We were there for CQWW SSB in October
