- I don't collect statistics on this, but I'd estimate for myself that 10-15% of the times I have sent a "?" resulted in a QSO. Higher at the start of a contest, and lower at the end. Playing both side

- I agree with Tim. Responding to "?" rarely pays off with a QSO. I figure my CQ's are short and I'm sending at 30wpm or higher....so it won't hurt for the station to stand by a couple of extra seconds
