My 28 year old TH7 needs to come down for maintenance, and I'm told the trap end caps MFJ now sells don't last long. I also may be just a matter of luck that no bugs have moved into any of the traps.

For your situation, the Skyhawk will likely give similar performance but not quite the bandwidth. How do the center drivens keep from banging together in wind? Suggest you consider a long log periodi

The Skyhawk uses insulating spacers to keep the drivens separate. LPDAs offer wide coverage but at expense of gain. The only thing about Skyhawk that might give some users pause is the use of blind r

If you don't need to tri-plex it to two radios, it's hard to beat a SteppIR. My neighbor K6XX has wrangled my straight 3-el at the top of my 120 ft tower without difficulty. Standard procedure is to

Besides the maintenance issues, the SteppIR won't do the instant band changes I do all the time in contests. Not SO2R, but my station is set up to change bands as fast as the K3 can. That's become a

My (straight) SteppIR has been up for 8+ years without a single problem I can blame on the antenna. I consider those straight antennas to be a pretty mature product. Can't say the same for the looped

Right. But the straight 3-el DOES go between adjacent bands pretty quickly. My station is has 3-el SteppIR for 20-6, and mono-banders for 20, 15, and 10 on a much lower tower, and I mostly work SO2R.

Gain is a function of boom length however you need enough parasitic elements for the Yagi to work. The MonstIR DB42 has a boom length of 42.5 feet with four loop elements and two straight elements. T
