Ward's letter tells to log them. I do not. Instead I tell the other station QSO B4. In case of a disagreement, I agree with the station that I remove the 1st QSO and the QSO we will log is the one I

So instead you spent more time discussing whether the guy is a real dupe or not, and instead you could have simply logged the "dupe" QSO and moved on... 73 Rich NN3W _________________________________

When someone tells me "QSO B4" I just spin the dial and let them get the NIL in their log. Maybe some day they will learn. No skin off me & they get any penalty. Takes too long to argue, I might miss

By leaving both QSOs in your log, you do not get a penalty. The log checking software will find the first QSO, and not find a match in my log. It will find the second QSO in your log AND my log. It t

I too at am a loss to follow the logic here. If you don't work him as a dupe and you did screw it up earlier in the log, you're still going to be penalized for that earlier screw-up. If you really di

Jukka, It may also be possible that you have copied and logged a call incorrectly, which would also be a potential NIL. I have to admit if I'm in S&P and I run across someone sending "QSO B4", I keep

Jukka, as I mentioned to you in a private email, the problem is that in perhaps 90% of the cases the other station will simply depart the frequency as soon as you send QSO B4 and pause for a reply. M

I'm usually in the camp that works the dupes and keeps on going, however in last weekend's ARRL 160 meter DX contest the number of dupes was astonishing. I had one VE3 call me seven different times.

Usually, when I operate from a DX location (~4500...6000 Q's in one weekend) I end up with about 150...250 dupes. Imagine, it's like 2 (or even more!) HOURS you are operating for nothing! It's just w
