In CQ 160 from EI/W5GN, I heard a pileup on a VT station, when I needed that multiplier, but he worked 3 or 4 stations before I finally heard his call clearly. It was cut numbers for zone 40 from a T

And "V" is not an acceptable cut number for "4" anyway. 4 like 6 has no acceptable cut number. The worst one I have encountered is often found by primarily European stations who send "J" instead of "

Personally, I don't think cut numbers should be used in any portion of the exchange that is vital. Apparently the RST is no longer something that need to be accurate so using 5nn or enn is fine with
