Here is one example of effective VHF/UHF antennas on a truck: http://www.kkn.net/~k5tr/photo/n2jmh/N2JMH%20Rover%204.jpg Actually, the VHF contests have a perfect category for you! You can rove aroun
Has anyone tried to push the envelope and use a 5/8 wave antenna mobile on 432 MHz as well? It will be the wrong polarity, but I'll give it a try. Just got the FT-100D installed in the Jeep and won't
Tree is correct - that would be effective. I would like to add that for you and others that do not have antennas for the VHF bands that you can still get on either with the 5/8 wave 2m vertical that
I doubt that the feedline will match at all. A 5/8 wave antenna has to have a coil to match it, and I'll bet the coil will simply act like a choke at 432. If the match is bad, it drives the feedline
I have found that my Cushcraft 40-2CD works on both 6 and 2 meters! It may help that it is the highest antenna on the mast. But I do notice definite peaks and nulls on 2m as it turns, so no telling h
Another thing you could use is an idea similar to one of my first operations from home. I used a cushcraft 3 el 6m beam and cushcraft 5el 144, 5 el 432 antenna (on one boom, fed with one feedline a-2

I too have used a 402CD to work 6m, but I soon found out that the 205BAS worked even better. You have one of these don't you Randy? I worked 26 countries on 6 in a matter of months a year or two ago
If you really want to have some fun on 2 and higher, try locating a power substation in a fairly deserted area. Back up the vehicle so that one of the bumpers touches the chain link fence. Then liste
Matt and All; my best qso on six was with my KLM 15 mtr 6 el yagi at 100 ft. I came home early on DEC 28 2001 and turned both rigs on; FT100D on 10 with the stack and FT920 on 6 with klm 15 mtr. I wa
