For the 160 meter RFI: As a precaution put a ferrite balun (line isolator) at the feedpoint and another as the coax enters the house. It is more likely that direct radiation from the antenna is getti

Hi Ray, Trying to guess the source from looking at captures can be tough... That said, here are a few questions: 1. Does it ever change sound? 2. Does it run on a schedule? 3. It is always the same?

Switchers generally show the following characteristics: They create noise every N kHz over a broad frequency range, with N typically being 10 to 100 kHz. The may be on continuously, but may also come

I totally agree with Ed. One fairly consistent rule is if the noise changes rapidly like within seconds constant changes would indicate a TV power supply. The TV power supply load changes with the de

Could that also be changes in the video scene being radiated? In general, the power supply will be rather hummy and its frequency may drift. When I heard a plasma TV, it was very stable with frequenc

Thanks Dave and everyone else who responded. To answer your questions: It does change sounds right at the end and sounds like a few tones before it disappears. It seems to be on every 20 to 45 minute

I would start with the smallest antenna you can hear it on from home. I have had good luck with a 3 or 4 turn loop about 18" in diameter, and for closer in just the built in ferrite loopstick in a gr

Ray, See if it is hearable on the AM Broadcast band... If so, take a portable radio, and DF using that... Use the NULL, not the peak for DFing, is using the internal loop... 73s and thanks, Dave (NK7
