Ignoring the hype and the prices - can someone address the difference in technology between a big Farad cap and a Hybrid? http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/Shop/Control/fp/tcat/28044/SFV/30046 Somet

I love it... chrome trimmed caps with volt and amp meters and blue led light strips! Be sure to hook them up only with the oxygen free copper cables, gold terminals and don't try to save by using 4ga

Again, *ignore* the hype and look at the technology. The technology works because I own the tiny Gamma PS that uses it: http://www.gammaresearch.net/hps-1a.html Here is a paper from the early days of

I don't believe there is a more effective capacitor made than that big automobile battery. 73 Roger (K8RI) _______________________________________________ RFI mailing list RFI@contesting.com http://l

Probably so ... but they weigh 90lbs each! I am thinking that I can get away with one instead of two if I add one of these hybrids in-line. The app. is SSB - intermittent - so most of the peak demand

I know that, I work at EPRI (www.epri.com) and we worked on developing commercial applications for the super caps. But chrome plating?!?! And built in volt/amp meters???? Can't you just buy a bare ca

I'm assuming that a "big Farad cap" is a colloquial name for an electric double layer (aka electrochemical) capacitor <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_double_layer_capacitor> AFAIK, Hybrid® Cap

I don't care about the eye candy, just the functional value of a smaller and lighter and less-costly device to deal with the load-spikes from SSB modulated HF signal through a solid state amp. -- Tha

I just used "big Farad cap" as a nickname because I figured everyone would know to what I was referring. I need to manage the load-spikes from a SSB modulated HF signal through a solid state RF amp.

No. The cap is of no benefit for the dynamic load application Because of its relatively high equivalent series resistance, an electrochemical capacitor cannot discharge quickly enough to help supply

The specs on these claim "exceptionally low ESR". This big Farad cap: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9379_Kole+Audio+C6D.html claims "ultra-low ESR" but doesn't specify - it's late and I don't h

Thanks for the clarification. I have E-mailed Maxwell to inquire directly as to the availability of a hybrid/ultra-capacitor in their product line that can overcome the ESR barrier. Will share if/whe
