If modem has a cube power supply be sure and put ferrite rings on its cable. The RF tends to come in this way more than on the 'phone line. -- Jack, K6NY, Palomar Engineers

Not sure what's the output voltage of the cube power supply for the modem, but as a test if you have a good quality power supply available that may match the output voltage try powering up the modem
