I tried Amico and it gives me bad RFI on 40m. Im also looking for advice on what to switch to. Someone on the list recommended Lithonia not too long ago and Ive been planning to try a few of those be

I am running a "hockey puck" LED that takes a "wedge" style bulb. It takes ~12v. I feed it with a conventional doorbell transformer. I also ran it on a small 12v shack PS for a while. Seems RFI free.

Most hams are bathed in RF noise from all the stuff in their homes, and the homes of their neighbors generating trash that we don't realize how noisy any individual product is. For that reason, I NEV

Jim this description is spot on. If you live in a neighborhood, take a good portable battery operated receiver (FT817, KX2, etc) with a wire hung in your backyard. Take readings of noise floor, birdi

David, When we had kitchen remodeled couple years ago, they installed 4 "LED Ultra-Thin Wafer" by Lithonia Lighting (p/n 264T3R). These are also called "hocky puck" lights. They made S9++ noise at 10

Thanks Eddie. Thats disappointing. I dont have the space behind the ceiling for a regular can light, which is why the wafer LEDs are ideal. Im hoping I can find one that relatively RFI quiet. 73, Dav

I have Lithonia WF6 LED 30K MW M6 13W wafer lights installed in my house. At least 40+. 8 of them are in my shack. They are connected to Lutron Caseta dimmers. I do not notice a difference from 6m-80

Since it might be futile trying to identify an RFI free LED based on another's experience I'll offer a solution I found.  I retrofitted incandescent lights in my wife's sewing room with these: https:

Right. In my case I used a 0.0022 uF X2 275V metal film capacitor. WRONG! Quoting from my tutorial on killing noise: Use only type X1, X2, Y1 and Y2 capacitors, which are specifically rated for AC li

Even the old adage to use a 1 kV ceramic capacitor is not really correct. Capacitors across the AC line carry current and AC-rated caps are designed to carry whatever current will result from 120 VAC
