I have a unique RFI situation that first surfaced within the past thirty days. The interference is a very constant buzz saw type noise, without pulse and with constant amplitude. It is strongest at 7

Ron, I have tracked down several grow light noise sources in my neighborhood that fit your description exactly. The noise in my case was generated by 1 kW ballasts used with high pressure sodium lamp

Thanks much for the feedback thus far. What I find interesting is the grow light noise observed on 7 mHz. By far, that is my worst band. I actually was able to work TX5K on 80 CW ABOVE the noise leve

Ron, I am not sure, but I think the reason the noise is worse on 40 m is that the line from the ballast to the lamp is about 30 feet (almost 1/4 wave length on 40 m). At least that is the way it has

Tonight (Sunday evening 03.10.2013) I am now on Pacific Daylight Savings Time (PDST). At 1825 local, the street lights in my neighborhood did not come on as has happened in the past. My assumption is

Walking is a wonderful thing. Not only does it make us live longer,it also helps find RF noise sources. 73, Jim K9YC _______________________________________________ RFI mailing list RFI@contesting.co

If it is a simple timer that doesn't "know about" DST, it would "appear" to shift to one hour later (in local PDT) if there were no human intervention. If the human was "confused" and/or didn't know

Look for a "sheet warmer, bed warmer" wall wart ps in one of the suspect homes. Had a neighbor whose sheet warmer was destroying ten meters. Guy wouldn't do a thing until I called local power company

Yup. Nearly all of my power line noise hunting last summer was done on foot, occasionally up to 20 miles in a single day. Late in the season I graduated to a bicycle for coarse hunting, with walking

The timer has been reset; apparently the unoccupied two-story has a caretaker/water guy/bud pruner that comes by daily, and now my S9+ noise is on a 1:53 p.m. local to 6:53 p.m. local down cycle and
