About to buy a new UPS for the shack computer. Need 800 VA minimum but thinking that 1500 would be better for future. Any models that I should avoid (especially noisy ones)? Any that you really like?

I have two RS1500 by APC. One is for my computer and the other is for my rig. Both seem quiet too me. I bought both at Amazon.com, seemed like the best price. Dale, K9VUJ ____________________________

This isn't what you asked, but I have 6 APC units. They vary from the little 500 VA I use for the network, to the 1500 VA for the big computers. The 1500 APC is sometimes on sale in the $150 range (g

I have a few here. To my mind, the 1500 VA units are barely sufficient for one transceiver, one PC & monitor, and the assorted accessories. At best, when the battery is new, I might get 15 or 20 minu

FYI: All square or stepped wave (read cheap) UPS's generate harmonics well up into the HF bands. More expensive but RF quiet, online models that produce a sine wave output with 1 to 2% or less, disto

Seems to me that needs may vary. For me, the most common scenario is the quick (usually squirrel-induced) dips that do nothing but cause my computers to reboot. I ran a 350VA UPS for years here to me

How did you test them? No "standby" UPS is likely to make noise when it's plugged in and only monitoring the line in standby mode. The noise will be generated when power has failed and it's regenerat
