- Could use some advice on a whole-house AC filter to reduce RFI in the SW spectrum. Ive tracked down two RFI sources this summer. One was an arcing junction box connection in my neighbors home (we

- It's important to understand that the mechanism at work here is RADIATION. The wiring in HIS house is a TRANSMITTING ANTENNA, and that is the primary mechanism by which you are hearing the trash, whi

- Thanks for the reply. First, it is notched and avoids the amateur bands. That was one thing that made it so difficult to track down. I had to buy a portable HF loop setup and a decent portable rec

- Unlikely to do much good -- it's the wiring INSIDE that home that is the transmitting antenna, so the noise must be prevented from reaching that wiring. And most simple filters that accomplished that

- I think the wiring is an unintentional radiator. It is definitely part of the problem. I can follow the signal along every drop lead from the transformer, and at every home on the transformer, and

- The back of the unit states not to plug it into a power strip, I presume as they foresaw that reducing its signal strength. So I think a filter would be helpful, butI'm not sure I would ever be invi

- That suggests that both your own home and theirs might not be well grounded at the service entrance. The AC mains coming into most homes is a twisted triplet (hot, neutral, hot), so from an RF point
