Chasing VK9WWI this morning I fired up the Alpha 78 on 80 meters. Woke the dogs and XYL setting off my First Alert BATTERY operated smoke and CO alarms. Any known cure short of QRP or QRT ? Thanks, R

smoke and CO alarms. You could always just remove the batteries. :) Seriously though -- are they completely stand alone, or are they wired into anything? If wired, try a capacitor on the order of 0.0

I have the same problem. I could not fix the alarms so I took out the batteries. (They even went off with 100 watts). If there are smoke alarms out there that don't go off around RF please let me kno

In my case, the antennas were mounted on the roof of our 1 story bungalow. The affected detectors were immediatly below the vertical and the balanced doublet antenna. Separation was 12 feet vertical
