Dear RFI List: I find myself spending a great deal of time attempting to locate interference in the range of 500 KHz to 8 MHz. Most of these signals originate from switching power supplies or electro

A small loop, although not very sensitive, when coupled with modern radios (more than sensitive enough with a "real" antenna) is a good tool for tracking down HF and even lower frequency interference

Frank, just an idea: maybe a powdered iron rod with as many turns of wire around it as possible (i.e. a loop stick antenna, like what is found in most medium wave AM rx but bigger) would work? the lo

You can use either a loop or a ferrite rod antenna. The performance will be quite similar. The sensitivity will be greatly improved if you use a tuned loop, and that may or may not matter in your par

"Ferrite rod antennas are quite tricky to get working properly - you need the highest permeability rod possible, _but_ the loss must be low at your operational frequency. Most medium wave rods will w
