Is there a reason that the LP limit in the Roundup is 150W or less? Wouldn't simply defining LP as 100W or less make infinitely more sense? Is there a legacy rationale for 150W? HNY to all. John / K0

In the beginning.... The ARRL did not come up with the RTTY Roundup contest... Hal, WA7EGA (now K7IRA) and Jay, WS7I came up the this contest over several glasses of single malt scotch. If you have e

Is there a legacy rationale for 150W? Hi John. Several years ago I persuaded Jim, N3BB to raise the issue w/ the CAC (ARRLContest Advisory Committee). They had already been considering the change, an

Actually this one is pretty easy. The ARRL went with their general rule of less than 150 watts and over 150 watts. Really makes no significant difference in any case. Most run 100 watts or less. Many

The Low Power limit for all ARRL HF contests is 250 watts. It was set when most radios were 150 watts. Most modern radios are 100 watts, so one could argue 100 watts is more appropriate. CQ contests

Why does it make more sense to lower the output? I have never operated roundup however I have operated plenty of other ARRL contests in the LP category and I enjoyed being 1.7dB louder. John KK9A Is
