- The memory chip in the 253 does indeed fill up and must be replaced. At least that what I was told by Ten Tec and I had to replace the one in my tuner. Whether the filling up is caused by the control

- The thing I forgot to mention is that the 253 uses an 8 pin DIL non-volatile ram chip to store the settings. The same chip is used in the Omni-V and maybe in the Omni-VI. That chip has a finite life
