The purpose of twisting the line is not to reduce noise pickup and radiation, it is to help keep the line balanced. I'd forget about using any kind of wood pane. Go with plexiglass. Just about any gl

Like they say, you can learn something new everyday. All of these years I thought we were twisting the "ladderline" to lessen the "whipping action" in the wind....I guess it is just accidental but I'

The Bliss tuner is nice and works well and yes it is pricy. But then look at the components it uses, motorized (2 speeds), vacum varriable cap from 7-1000 pf, roller inductor from 0 to 56 uH. Gives y

Well, you learn something every day. But I 'spect my first Elmer, Old Hardman, would have a good belly laugh about twisting the line to keep it balanced. Back in '47 we were told that the two halves

Tony, again I fully agree with you. I understand the merrits of twisting when passing near some metal object - both sides are equally effected, but I've always twisted mine because it seems (subjecti

Regarding twisting the feed-line, why do you suppose the phone company called it "a twisted pair"? Answer: because that what it was and it was used to maintain symmetry and thus reduce induced voltag

Just a reminder that it is quite possible to match subject direct to 50 ohms without a tuner and do it on more than one band effectively. Likewise it is possible to match true ladder line (open air s

Actually I think a great benefit is from reducing crosstalk from adjacent pairs. The benefit of twisting tends to be significant up to around 30MHz...by one account I read. Chuck, KE9UW -- Outgoing m
