Hi, I'm still playing around with Orion II settings for the 707 Regal microphone, using v3.029 firmware. My best for SSB so far are: MIC 55 H/W MIC GAIN 14 dB SP 2 L.F. ROLLOFF 200 Hz TX FILTER BW 39

Just a few comments: 1. I only use 3900hz tx BW when I'm on AM. It might be worth checking whether you are actually gaining any tx fidelity in SSB by increasing from 3.0 to 3.9Khz on the Orion. 2. TX

Tnx Barry. When I go from 3900 to 3000 Hz I lose a litle treble response, but the main thing that goes down is the hiss. For SSB, it's probably a good trade-off. I then tried -10 dB EQ, and the resul

FYI, the output impedance of the 709A is 600 ohms, while that of the 707 is 50k ohms. The O2 specs call for >10k. 73 Ray W2RS _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTe

I agree with Rodney on the 709 mike choice. Just work on axis about 1" to 2" from the mike. I have 2 and they always get EXCELLENT audio reports on both SSB and AM. The 707 looks better on the shelf

Tnx for that. Bob, K4TAX, explained it off line. BTW, T-T has since changed the source impedance of the 707 mic to 250 ohms. Maybe it should be called the 707v2? 73 Ray W2RS _________________________

I had a 707 and sold it. May buy another one just to try again. My preference and best sounding of all mikes is the 709A. I don't specifically recall if Tentec actually changed by design the source o

Thanks for the uptake on the different impedance values. Further research at the suggestion of another list member has me thinking ... well ... er... what I wrote was mostly correct for most situatio
