Hi Gang, I am taking a quick look at the inside of my OII to see if something obvious is wrong. My ALC light never blinks, Ever. My question is: I have the top cover off, now it looks like to get at
Hi Lee, It's just like that with Orion I. The ALC LED is on the A8 Keypad Board (front panel), driven by the CPU peripheral circuitry, with no direct connection to the RF circutry. The CPU ALC input
Lee if you have to ask then you should never have even taken the cover off :-) Art _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.co
Art, I assure you I am a competent tech. -:). That being said, I have learned through the years that the first time you dig into somrthing new... ask if there is any gotcha's... I'm going to call Pau
Lee its doubtful that anything is wrong with the LED circuit. I would suspect the mic does not have enough output assuming your mic setting is at 100 and the power meter fluctuates under modulation.
I assume you hear the mic audio in the monitor. What's your power output? If you crank the speech processor up to SP9 with mic gain on 100, does it light? What mic are you using? 73, Barry N1EU _____
Heil Goldline Mic, ALC is working (power setting controls output) And audio output works fine. The light has never come on since I got OII in Feb. At least I think from all that that the ALC is worki
Hi Lee, When you first power the O2, the ALC LED should come on for a short moment as it powers up. The sequence is 1. S-meter backlight on. 2. S-meter backlight off and all front panel LED's on (inc

Lee, Also, if the O2 is same as O1, then the ALC LED is driven from the same UCN6810 IC as the VFOA SUB RX and VFO B SUB RX button LEDs. (These buttons are shown on page 7 of the Orion II users manua
Don's dismiss the possibility that the LED could be in backward. I took delivery on $125,000 worth of industrial back-plane computers and software this week and found one that had the PWR LED hooked
