I have an Omni D Series B here that has 30 meters on the band switch and 12 meters in the AUX position. My question is this, can one had 17 meters to this rig also ? Are there coil packs in the aux p

The Omni-C is not a good rig to use on 17 meters because it uses a 9 MHz IF and consequently puts out spurs on that band. The Omni-B is not good on the 17 meter band for the same reason. The Corsairs

I'll let some of the other Ten-Tec fans give the technical explanation, but there's some reason that the Series B Omni cannot be used on 17 meters. Has something to do with IF frequency or images, I

The problem is that the IF is 9 MHz, the output is 18 MHz so the oscillator for the simple hardware scheme is 9 MHz. Trouble is that the second harmonic of the oscillator will be stronger than the mi

Hi All Now I am confused, at the last Ten-Tec Hamfest I bought a Omni C from the Used Equipment case. Paul Clinton told me this Omni C can be put on 18 MHz by putting the crystal in it. He said this

The spur is slightly below the 17m ham band. It's strong enough to pin the meter on a monitor receiver with no antenna. It's too close to the ham band for comfort. Maybe you can install the xtal and

Depends on what the crystal and tuned circuits are. If the crystal added is 4.0 MHz give or take a couple KHZ, there's going to be that strong transmit spur. If the crystal is 22 MHz, its clean. Anot

Hi, Ken-- Put the crystal in it and then try it out, listening on a separate receiver or viewing the output with a spectrum analyzer. It is at that point you may understand of what it is that we spea

The 546-C schematic I have says the crystal for 18 MHz is 4.0 MHz. That's the one with the strong spur. What does your manual show for the 18 MHz crystal? 73, Jerry, K0CQ -- Entire content copyright

Fixing should; require two changes. Change the crystal to 22.0 MHz. Change the coil and capacitor on the PTO mixer output for 18 Mhz to one that tunes to 27 MHz. Maybe change the counter initializati

Oh, I see. 22 (new band xtal) +5 (pto) =27 ('VFO Mix') 27 (above 'VFO Mix') -9 (carrier oscillator) = 18 MHz (operating frequency) Now to the tuned circuits. . . 73, Mike N4NT
