Hello to all, I am having a hard time with the 238 tuner and an alpha delta DX CC antenna while trying to tune on 75 meters only. I have no problems with the tuner on 40 meters and or 20 meters I sus

Tony, The 238 tunes 80 meters just fine. You may need to find the right combination of switch positions. On my trap antenna, 80/40 , dipole, it tunes on the left #3 switch position and the dial indic

Can you describe what kind of problem you're having? Can't find a match? There's not much I can't match with mine, although I've found a few that I can't quite bring down to 1:1 SWR. 73, Duane Duane

Tony Let me offer a suggestion based upon having similar problems in the past with getting a match. I discovered that the coax feedline connections were not sound and the poor solder connection overt

Tony: Further to my earlier comments. First, I suggest doing a simple DC resistance check across the traps. One or both may have failed, more likely in making connection between the 40M and the 80M s

On that DXCC check the connectionson the trap. I bought one once and there were no washers, the little trap wire was imbedded in the plastic. Put together very poorly, ended up trashing all but the c

A center fed wire antenna of what ever length, the longer the better, fed with a balanced feed will typically work quite well, it's easy to build, uses inexpensive materials and works all bands. 73 B

Bob is exactly right....this makes a massively good antenna for next to nothing. Another good one is a loop antenna, fed with a balanced feed. Neither one is a 6 element monobander, but they work gre

The 229 and 238 (essentially the same tuner in a different color case and with their dial cords wound in the opposite directions) are really excellent tuners, and can be tuned to match almost any rea

In certain cases, for 160M and sometimes 75M, the external cap needs to be greater than the 1000 pf item provided. I've found that up to 2700 pf might be needed in some cases. This tuner will usually

The tuner can be improved on. I found that under high power on 160 and 80 the SWR would change as the fixed disc ceramic capacitors heated up, which they do, so I replaced them all with doorknob caps
