Well I did a lot of thinking about the Argo V purchase over vacation and took a good look at the competition. While the Japanese rigs may have more features, and bands like VHF and UHF, they just see

took a good look at the competition. While the Japanese rigs may have more features, and bands like VHF and UHF, they just seem to fall down on receiver performance, CW as in QSK, and their implement

Hi Duffy Yep the band will only go one way but you can do what I did. The first 23 memory spots are for my band switch. 1.806 cw then 1.900 ssb. I could go on but I think you know what I mean. Works

That clacking relay on the Omni V is just to key a non-tentec amp. Most people just stuff a piece of cardboard in it to prevent the relay from moving to silence it. Carl Moreschi N4PY more Having rea

Has there been a comparison to the K2 on the reflector? I looked at the Argo V seriously, but it just doesn't have the ease of use operating features quite down yet, such as auto-ATU with dual antenn

Or, you can lift one end of the resistor in the relay driver circuit. That'll disengage the relay too. As Carl points out though, this is only applicable if you don't drive an amp. 73 to all, Rod K5B

"just a *bit* more pricey"??? Last I checked a fully-tricked out K2 is nearing $2000 with the accessories (SSB, NB, ATU, PA, DSP, etc.) Add to that 60-80 hours of construction time at minimum wage (u

Jeff, You're making a partially unfair comparison. You are including the PA and ATU in the cost of the K2, neither of which the Argo V has. And don't just add on an LDG auto-tuner, the K2 ATU is supe

This comparison thing with the K2 and the Argo V is getting a little outa hand really, don't you think? Since they are two completely different radios. Each one being designed for a particular "niche

The actual price is $1909.50 for the K2 "twins" setup you describe (plus shipping). The only difference I figured the KDSP2....it is much better than the KAF2 and the mic that is made by Heil for Ele

Mike, Why do you include the K2 ATU? Argo V doesn't have that. Why the battery pack, again, doesn't apply. Argo V doesn't have keyer memory buffers. Argo will not have 100W available. No built-in ATU

Casey, I guess in my rambling way what I was trying to say. There a many differences in both the K2 and the Argo. What is important to me may not be important to you. Both satisfy the needs and wants

Mike, I did enjoy the exchange, sorry if it seemed a bit contentious at times. Yes, I did bring up the "twins", but I guess I wasn't clear about trying to make a more or less equal comparison by incl
