I've been having a problem with my "new" used Ten-Tec Centaur amp. I can tune it easily on all bands except 15 meters to about rated power. On 15 meters about all I can get is 200 watts (freshly cali

Hi Michael, I'm not sure my experience will help you, but here it is: About 25 years ago I bought a Heathkit SB-220 linear amplifier. It tuned up just fine on the lower bands, but I had trouble on th

A grounded grid linear is not easily tuned by plate and grid meters. Its very easy to set up a tuning condition with almost no gain, but the right DC readings. It performs far better if tuned for max

John, I've tried the dummy load, different lengths of coax between rig and amp. SWR is abt 1.2:1 into antenna and 1.1:1 into dummy load. SWR between Omni V and amp is <2:1 .... seemingly about 1.6:1

What is the length of coax from transceiver to amplifier, and from amplifier to antennas? You might have a total lenght including internal distances in ampl. and tuner that is a high impedance on 15M

And how about the length of your RF ground lead from rig and tuner and amp, (count all sections) to earth? Is it around 11 feet or odd multiple of that? If so it is a 1/4 wave condition, also high im
