I do somewhat the same; I use either the old timewave 59+ or my Autek QF-1A with the AGC shut off. I guarantee that old piece of antiquity; QF-1A is perfect for 99.99% of what's out there with my Cor

Anyone come up with a fix for the loud pop on the attack of the AGC in this rig. I really like this radio but this pop is driving me to maybe get rid of the radio. Seems like it is worse on this radi

I am also searching for a magic bullet. The pop really is the only bad thing I can think of about my CSII. I replaced the agc and hang electrolytic charge caps with tantalum and it improves it some.

This won't help much right now, but I'll keep digging. Some years ago (10?), there was a capacitor change near the audio output amplifier, maybe it was near the QSK transistor that shut off the audio

I'm pretty sure the AGC in the Corsair II is derived from audio after the detector, and so after all the crystal filters but before the audio filter. So that has to be where the AGC pumping came from

I suppose if you don't mind losing the SSB capability of the Corsair you could substitute the 2.4kHz wide 1st IF filter with either the 217 (500hz) or 219 (250hz) 9MHz filter. Would not likely do muc

You might try experimenting with the value of R46 - it determines how fast the agc will track a varying signal. If it's a very high value, or is removed entirely, the agc couldn't track a varying sig
