I installed the PTO rebuild kit some weeks ago and it has substantially cured the warble. However there are still minor instabilities (ie frequency wandering) on some of the bands. The frequency jump

Unfortunately Bob, you have a good radio that was designed many years before digital modes were used and at that time, the stability you are quoting would be way above par for those radios. If your g

** REPLY SEPARATOR ** Tom, Many thanks for the reply... You are right, but what intrigues - and annoys me - is that on 15m and 30m the stability is more than good enough for me. If the PTO is this go

Bob.... Alan has a good point. If you look at the schematic of the Corsair, you will find the xtal mixing scheme used for each band. There may be some possibility for you to replace the xtals for the

Tom, Thanks for your comments... There's no crystal for the worst band, 14.000 MHz! I'll have a look at the band switch contacts. The Corsair manual has a dire warning in it about cleaning the bandsw

Old Corsairs tend to get very corroded switch contacts with years of use in humid climates. Use one of the Caig De Oxit cleaner products followed by their switch lube product and it will inhibit corr

Well of course AFC does not stop drift on a xmtr. But if AFC works, the rcvr will lock onto the incoming signal. A frequency stability of better than 10Hz is really asking a lot from amateur radio ge

I have read all the replies to this post so far and I am still confused. Are we talking about 10 Hz or 100 Hz? The readout on my Corsair and any of the other Ten-Tec rigs of the same vintage doesn't

Thanks, Edward, for your reply. Yes, the digital display on the Corsair will only display to 100Hz, but the waterfall displays on all the PSK programs display 100Hz markers with enough space between

Well, the problem is solved, thanks to a lead from Al, WB5JNC. It was not the PTO after all! What was niggling me was that I could see that the PTO was capable of better than +/- 5Hz on 10 & 21MHz -
