What has been your experience with the MFJ or Jackite collapsible fibreglass poles, either 33' or 43' in length? I have been considering a purchase in order to construct a wire vertical. Would really

The Spiderbeam poles are also worth considering. Our good friends W4PA and DJ0IP are intimately involved. 73, Barry N1EU _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@con

Barry, thanks a lot for this feedback re Spiderbeam. I have had some questions about the cost, which seem too low for such length. PS Could you send me the formula for making up some wire verticals?

Doc, You will find a good selection of plans for wire verticals on my web site. http://www.dj0ip.de/vertical-antennas/ All of these antennas have been built and used by one or more of the Spiderbeam

Doc, I forgot one VERY important point: DO NOT USE CARBON-FIBER POLES for vertical antennas. Running a wire snug against them results in a significant amount of loss, often as much as 10dB. Therefore

Rick, wow what a useful and appreciated response. A quick question = how well do the so-called "inverted WYE" wire verticals perform? I don't have nearly enough room in my tiny yard even for 16 or 32

We also built an antenna using a Spiderbeam pole. It broke in a 45 mph wind because it's not well reinforced. 73, Jim K9YC _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@c

Jim, many TU for writing. I'm now sold on the Jackite poles, and will be buying several. I live In a rental flat here in Missoula, MT in the far western part of the state. I need to settle on a wire

GM Doc, You threw me a curve ball with that "Inverted WYE". Had to look it up. I think it could be better called an simply "Inverted Y". One up, two diagonally down. This is very similar to the old T

Jim broke the cardinal rule when he erected the antenna: He drilled a hole near the bottom of the pole and it broke at the hole. NEVER DRILL A HOLE in these poles. We have about 10,000 happy users of

As it happens, I have both Spiderpoles and a 31' Jackite. As the noted philosopher Yogi Berra might say, "their similarities are different." For one thing, the 12M Spiderpole is longer, which means i

Two points. First, NOWHERE was it stated that a hole should not be drilled in the pole. Second, the website stated that "These are extremely strong poles, with a much greater wall thickness (up to 2m

Jim, you are right, the Spiderbeam web site does not say not to drill a hole in the pole. Until now we thought people were smart enough not to do that. AND nowhere does it say on our web that you can
