- My faithful old radio dedicated laptop has given up the ghost. Its replacement apparently doesn't have a parallel port. I have been using the parallel port for keying via my Win-EQF logging program.

- the serial port will key the rig thru a switch made of one transistor, one diode and two resistors--as noted in MixW's help files. thus use a USB to serial port adapter to the switch to the rig. don'

- True....or a commercial version of the same thing. But if he wants to just switch the laptop, and make no other changes or additions....a USB to parallel....or a different laptop would be required. _

- Yeah, parallel ports are pretty much done now. Printers used to use them, but none of them do any more. In fact (I may have missed one) I don't think you can even buy a common printer any more (new)

- That's for sure. I occasionally see requests for parallel printers from people with old computers that can not afford to replace them, but can't even find a new parallel port printer, while USB ones
