Hi, Greg I have an Orion II and am using the RigBlaster Pro - a little pricey, but does everything I need, and it comes with cables!. The only problem is with FSK - the Auxillary IO cable that came w
Greg, you need NO interface for the Orion. the cables supplied with the radio plug into your audio card with adapters. i use MixW and can run all the digital modes that program offers by choosing the
My experience is limited to PSk31 but found the SignaLink SL-1+ easy to use. You can configure it to use with any rig and it leaves the serial port free to use HRD. Might check that site (http:// for
Greg, PSK is done with a sound card and software program. You only need an audio in and out of the transceiver. The Orion II has programmable line level (and isolated) audio in and out ports on the b
You CAN use a demodulator for RTTY if you want to run FSK, but AFSK RTTY with the sound card and a software program like MMTTY will work very well for almost all your RTTY needs. No hardware required
You don't need a TNC or interface box to do RTTY. The supplied audio cable, and a computer running MMTTY or similar software, will work just fine. 73, Ray W2RS _______________________________________
Ray/others, Please excuse my ignorance, but: - 1. If I use the supplied audio cable to directly connect the Orion II to the computer, is there any danger to the Orion in doing so (as in wrong voltage
Greg, Yes, when operating PSK/RTTY with the audio cable hook-up, you use the VOX to control T/R switching. That means that you have to adjust the levels to make it happen, but it does work. Some guid

Hi, Greg Its exactly the isolation problem, as well as the desire to use FSK instead of AFSK for RTTY, and to use CW from a keyboard, that I spent the $$$ to get the interface I use (Rigblaster Pro).
You might check the Orion reviews. Somewhere I read that the Orion includes the isolation already in the transceiver. Stuart K5KVH _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list
Thank you all so very much for your advice and lessons learned, both on and off the reflector. Armed with all this advice, I hope to be on the digital modes within a few weeks. Thanks again, and 73,
Good point Ray, about there being a software RTTY program. I was mainly saying most TNCs include RTTY as one of the digital modes. I had briefly heard of the RTTY program; but no one down here seems
Hi Stuart, Yes, I used to do RTTY with a PK-232 and a KWM-2 (de-rated to 50 W output for RTTY), but it's so much easier with modern software such as MMTTY and either of my TT radios (Argo V and O2).
Hi Gregg, I have been using MixW with the MixW Rigexpert interface with the ORION I, this interface connects via the USB on the PC and the AUX and serial socket on the ORION. With the Macros in MixW
