Very normal. The Scout has a PTO, not an optical encoder. It will feel stiff compared to a free wheeling optical encoder. Dan KF9BP Yes, judging by my experience with the Scout I owned, this stiff tu

hi The stiffness of the Scout knob is because it is directly coupled to a rotary inductor that tunes the VFO. Very stable knob. I used therig many years in Field Day Contests ron K3MIY Yes, judging b

Don: It is normal for the tuning to be stiff. The knob drives a screw that runs the slug in and out if the VFO coil. A little light grease on the screw threads may help, but its not the kind of dial

The Scout stiff tuning is normal due to the knob controlling a long screw attached to a core in a coil, a PTO, (permeability tuned oscillator) The weight of the core and the finite pitch of the screw
