Ok, so I'm a total novice at running anything other than a barefoot rig. I was at the Weatherford, TX hamfest yesterday and picked up a Dentron GLA-1000 amp with some extra tubes, yadda yadda yadda.
dave... check out my ampkeyer, here's the link: http://www.theheathkitshop.com/ampkeyer.html notice at the bottom of the page, there's a photo with the ampkeyer and the jupiter. the ampkeyer is simpl

Hi Mike, That looks like a nice product. I have a couple of questions. The specifications list says the relay contacts are good for 2000 mA at 125 volts. Many older amplifiers have around -150 to -18
the relay is rated at 250 volts at 1000ma or 2000 ma at 125 volts the relay is used for negative line keying the mosfet will only handle positive key lines, but will do so at 6 amps and 250 volts. th
Dave... Well, its not rocket science! Some amps can be direct keyed by some rigs...and some cannot. To find out, first read through both manuals and see if they offer any specs as to the keying requi
I use an MFJ 704 gizmo to key my linears. Some of the older amps used 12 volts at 1 amp ( or such) to ground and can harm the keying circuit on the new rigs, You know that you "dip the plate and peak
Again I use an mfj 704 amp interface with all my rigs and amps. I that way never have to think about it, it is always protected.. this stuff is too expensive not to use a little protection. tom N6AJR
I had a GLA-1000 that I attempted to use with my Omni VI. Keying was no problem, since the VI contains a relay to use with older amps. I suspect the Jupiter has no such relay, requiring the external
