My ORION II arrived yesterday and 15 seconds later it was out of the box and on the air. I tried it out for several hours yesterday and set it up in all the configurations that caused problems with t

Ron, Do you notice any loss of signal audio when turning the BW encoder from 200hz to 100hz in the cw mode? Not the signal strength but the audio itself. I seemed to notice loss of audio the last tim

Toby, No, I do not notice a reduced audio when using the BW encoder from 200Hz to 100Hz and I've tried it several times in UCW mode (I made certain I was centered on the signal tone). I do have the 6

Ron, Glad you like your O2 also. Thanks for responding to my request on those settings. As more of us new O2 owners appear, I think that many more setting preference lists will appear. - Ed, KL7HRN _

As I understand, when the bandwidth is reduce by 1/2 then shouldn't the total audio output be reduced by 6 dB? And thus S/N be improved by an equal amount? 73 Bob, K4TAX _____________________________

If you're listening to white noise only, you'd expect the audio power to be proportional to bandwidth (assuming flat audio response and no AGC). If you're listening to a CW note in the passband, the

No, the average noise power gets reduced by 3 dB, and the signal power (within the bandwidth) stays the same. 73, Sinisa YT1NT, VE3EA _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing li

Changing bandwidth from 200 Hz to 100 Hz should change the power bandwidth by 3 dB. A signal centered and totally contained within the bandwidth should not change in level thus yielding a S/N improve
