I believe my Omni V may have lost sensitivity on 15, 12 and 10M. I hear = only the weakest signals. While it may be conditions, I can't even hear DX spots being put up here = in Michigan. =20 My ques

John, Absolutely, there is a way to check the rig sensitivity without a signal generator. It is known standard frequency stations like WWV and WWVH, and known frequency and level stations like the DX

Disconnect your antenna from the back of the rig. Turn up the volume and listen to the noise. Connect the antenna and see if the noise increases. If so, it's probably sensitive enough. If not, it's p

Carl - That sounds like just what I need. That would quickly isolate the problem to the rig or the antenna, regardless of propagation. I'll have to keep my eyes open on EBay or at hamfests for a cali

Stuart - Checking beacons was the first thing I thought of. But, if I can't hear a beacon, is it propagation or the rig? This is what I hear at 0000UTC - 7 PM EDT Thursday Beacons - 15M - 4X6TU (S2),

John Another thing to check out is the RX antenna switch on the back of the rig. Give it a shot of DeOxit (or your favorite contact cleaner) and slide it back and forth a few times. Even if you don't

I had this exact problem when at first I thought I was loosing my receiver as well. I would definitely recommend this procedure from time-to-time no matter what. 73, Eric W5WLW

My 2 cents... Sometimes when the receiver antenna switch gets corroded, the receiver will slowly lose sensitivity (maybe after 20 minutes to a few hours), and in my case when I changed bands or mode
