At the risk of being off base, Gary, on SSB the output will be zero until you talk into the mic. Just keying it won't test the rig or the mic. Sorry if this is obvious, but a lot of folks get caught

Electret mics require a bias voltage. The Omni D doesn't supply a mic voltage, so, unless the mic has a battery, it won't work. 73, Dave, VE1ADH ______________________________________________________
