Vincent: In the June 1996 issue of QST, there is a product review of the 1208 6-M Transverter Kit, written by Norm Bliss, WA1CCQ. It is an excellent and thorough review. What I find curious is that i

I attended the Jefferson, WI hamfest this past Sunday and on an impulse I purchased a Model 1208, 6m transverter. Just out of curiosity does anyone know the differences between the 1208 and 1209 mode

The 1209 converts 144 to 50 mhz. You will enjoy the 1208. I used one with my Orion for a long time and it worked very well. Yes, just keep the power at 5 watts and all will work well. Be very careful

Must be a typo. My 1208 converts 14 MHz (not 144) to 50 MHz. Works great. I drive it with 5 watts from my Argo V and it puts out 8-9 watts on 6. 73 Ray W2RS In a message dated 3/15/2010 1:08:52 P.M.

I was referring to the 1209, not the 1208. The 1209 is a 6 meter transverter that converts 50 mhz to 144 so you can use a 2 meter radio and get 6 meters. I never had a 1209, just a 1208. And of cours

No, he is right. The 1208 converts 14 MHz to 50 MHz and the 1209 converts 144 MHz to 50 MHz. For a while, Tentec marketed the 1220 2 meter transceiver with the 1209, saying that this would get you 6

I really liked my 1208 transverter. I used it with my Argonaut II, and worked all continents with 8 watts during the last F2 peak feeding a Hy-Gain 4 element beam at 50 feet. I gave it to a friend to

I wish I had bought one of the ten meter to two meter transverters. It would have been the perfect mate for my Radio Shack HTX-100 10 meter SSB/CW transceiver, which never gets any use these days. I

A great little radio. Radio Shack took the Uniden "Freeband disguised as a CB" rig, and made a wonderful, ham specific 10m rig. I had one, and gave it to a 12 year old ham when I left the states. I s
