Hi folks - earlier George wrote the two paragraphs below. When using my K2 or 756 PRO I rarely if ever have the RF gain anywhere but on "full". When I had my Omni I used it quite a bit. Anyway, when

One should compare a terminated RF stage to the antenna, not an open antenna connector. In many RF stages, especially those critically matched for best noise figure, changing the source impedance cha

Thanks for the quotes, Tim. Just the added thought that the filters, both IF and audio, on the K2 are not all that sharp compared to the PRO DSP filters. Also, the K2 has quite a noticeable roll-off

Interesting observation and I'm wondering if that really explains what Tim was describing about the percussive characteristics of the received cw. I also notice that an FT-1000MP's received cw sounds

I thought the percussive cw response was due to the steep sided filter shape in the default filter menu and required some adjusting. Then this was addressed in the Pro 2 and a soft/hard menu position

I believe that certain factors such a slew rate or more importantly slew rate limited audio paths do more to impact CW than most give credit for. Just an old audio phile 's opinion. 73 Bob K4TAX

A similar adjustment can be made on the 756 PRO by setting a filter to an SSB default. Then SFT will show on the screed. Then use the PBT to narrow it down to your cw width. Bingo......hard and soft
