Using HRD sound card into rear panel auxiliary input. With speech proc off I get only about 50 watts out with max audio drive measured on rf wattmeter. The O2 meter shows 100 watts, not 50. If I turn

It sounds like there is not enough output from the computer to drive the O2. Check to see if the ALC light is flashing. If everything is turned up on the computer and you're not getting ALC indicatio

Let me clarify one thing I didn't mention. I am using the "Navigator" USB sound card interface box, which works quite nicely otherwise. The O2 spec says it needs -6 dBm audio to the aux connector to

What kind of external wattmeter are you using, Jim? Different wattmeters read power in many non-standard ways, including the ones in our radios :-( 73 - Glenn AE0Q -- "Remember, any tool can be the r

Jim: I would look at the Navigator to see if there is an internal adjustment or perhaps a software adjustment. There is nothing wrong with driving the O2 direct from a soundcard, which is what I did

You get 100 watts PSK by running 20 watts from the Orion into a 600 watt amplifier. Otherwise the intermod just kills the BAND you are on, and the other users will be wanting to shove nails into your

You are right, when I set the drive audio until the ALC just stops flashing on the O2 then I get about 30-40 watts out, or in that range, which is what has been recommended by others. That's where I

Yup a bad example. Not as sensitive and not as readily checked. With line input to the radio, the radio isn't nearly so sensitive to ground loop problems so only cables SHOULD be enough interface. I

For and clean and correct PSK signal the transmitter output should be about 45 to 55 watts max. SP should not be used. What you are seeing is likely the result of the ALC action, controlling the powe
