If you've cut the BW down to 2.1 KHz then that is the bandwidth. Now, what is likely taking place is that you are using excessive processing or the mike gain is too high or you are overdriving the in

On the Behringer B-1, I have 4 of them. They work great miking the church choir. Lousy radio mikes however. A good dynamic operated about 1" to 2" from the mouth and on axis will sound much better. P

It sounds like something else is going on here. You should be able to open the TX BW to at least 3.0 kHz and drive the mic input until the ALC light is on quite a bit and there should be no audible d

I also have one and I agree. As you know, Bob, many of those large diaphragm studio microphones are very sensitive, and as another ham once put it, they pick up the sound of a gnat's sneeze from acro

I disagree - although the B-1 may (or may not) be a lousy ham mic, it shouldn't sound distorted with the VX-2000 as long as levels are set properly and you're driving the AUX audio input. I used a VX

Hi Barry - I may not have been sufficiently clear and your post causes me to pause and clarify: I agree the VR-2000 processor, itself, should not cause distortion - unless used improperly or with ina

I think you'd like the sound of the 709 or the 707 as used with that radio. They are different styles of mikes and you may have a preference in that regard. The internal speech processor when used is

A few thoughts... 1) It is possible you were given bad advice in the beginning. Saying your signal is "wide" is a somewhat vague, unscientific term; it hardly qualifies as a "term of art" all operato

I basically agree with James, "what's wide?". How was it determined that it was wide? If the TX BW is 2800 Hz and the TX Low End Roll-off is 150 Hz then the transmitted bandwidth is 2650 Hz. In gener

Minor correction.  With a TX BW of 2800 and a roll off of 150 the top end is actually at 2950 Hz.  I think that too would be quite acceptable. 73, Rick VE7TK Website: http://www.ve7tk.com I basically

Except there ISN'T a bandwidth setting of 2800 Hz available on the Orion - you'd have to choose either 2700 or 2850 Hz. Barry N1EU _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list

The objection is misplaced, because Bob couched his original comment with the proviso "if"... such that 2800 Hz was stated merely as an example, or hypothetical case, and not proffered as a rule. ;-)
