Besides my various Ten Tecs, I will occasionally refurb something else. I have a TS-50 that suffers the classic "leaky" electrolytic issue... (they leak and damage the underlying board traces). I nee

Bill, Both types are electrolytics in the sense that they utilize an electrolyte to increase the effective capacitance plate area. Yes, you can freely substitute the tantalum with the benefits of clo

IMHO There is zero problem doing that. The Tantalum cap has a better ESR rating and better performance at cold temperature. Don KO7i _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing lis

I replaced several of the Aluminum electrolytics on the PLL boards in my Paragon with tantalums. I found that the Aluminum electrolytics were microphonic. 73, Bob WB2VUF _____________________________

Not to be a killjoy but: Personally I would be careful in the wholesale replacement of electrolytics with Tantalum caps. Tantalum caps can not stand the inrush current that electrolytics can which ca
