How about "Paperweights" or "Door stops"? I have an Omni 6+, original owner and just hope not to have the dreaded Logic board failure. But along with my B/C-line and TR-7 Drakes, the Ten Tec's just k

Robb, I was actually referring to the glut of TT rigs on ebay and elsewhere. I plan on contacting Ten-Tec tomorrow and discussing some possibilities with them regarding this matter. Having a spare is

an extra rig of the sort one likes to use is surely a comfort, even if expensive. I like the idea of having a spare just in case. you can see that at QRZ when you search on AK7O. jack Robb, I was act

I've been reading this thread here and there and I'm sure I've missed some of the finer details So, my question is simple. The logic board failure. Is it due to the microprocessor failure or the enti

Given a working Omni VI to compare too (and borrow some parts from) it appears to be fairly practical to keep working though my first attack would be to connect around the DSP to minimize the work re

According to the schematics in the downloaded Omni VI manual, the processor is an 80C32 using external memory and ROM. The memory chip is not very common, but Jameco has some. The CPU chip is availab

My experience in field troubleshooting in the days of discrete components and early TTL/CMOS was that 90% of problems always had a relationship to a connection - be it an IC socket, bad solder joint,

How hard is it to remove that chip from a working rig, plug it into some sort of board with power and interface electronics, and read the code out of it, into a PC? Having done that would it be a co

From a distance we have NO way to tell if its the EPROM. But a whole string of Kenwoods had a problem with EPROM sockets so the factory solution was to solder the EPROM in after pulling the socket. A
