My newly acquired Omni C changes frequency on TX. It happens on all bands, in both SSB and TUNE modes. As I increase the drive level, the frequency drops. At max output, the frequency is down by almo

Hi Keith-- I never had luck operating an Omni-C from a storage battery. It may be that the voltage from the battery is not high enough to permit proper regulation in the rig. What you are seeing may

I just did some more testing. The VFO jumper on the back is tight and clean. Battery voltage is 12.1 VDC. As I bring the drive up, it drops to 11.7 VDC and the frequency shifts. I then connected my b

Keith: I had the same problem with my Delta II on battery, but the problem cleared up when I either (1) backed the power down to about 50 watts, or (2) ran it from the proper TenTec power supply. The

I think the problem is the storage battery. The voltage is a bit low for the regulators in the old "Omni". I think you will have much better luck with a 13.8 well regulated power supply. -- FAQ on WW

I charged the battery overnight. Now it's voltage is 13VDC or so. Under load it drops to about 12VDC. The rig develops close to 100 Watts out with no FMing or frequency shift. So it appears to be a s
