There is also no-ip.org which is a no cost service that will do the same thing. You just run a local program on some computer on your internal network that automatically reports your current address

No. Anyone can access them. They use password protection to UPDATE them, but the whole point of DNS is that anyone can in the world can use them. In fact that requirement is in the specs. Geoff. -- G
